The Porsche Cayman was first introduced in 2006 as a hardtop alternative to the Boxster, providing a more rigid structure and enhanced handling. The second-generation Cayman 981 launched in 2013 and was a significant evolution in both design and performance. It featured a more aggressive look inspired by the 918 Spyder, improved aerodynamics, and a lower centre of gravity.

The GTS model, introduced in 2014, delivered additional power and a more refined suspension setup, while the GT4, (2015), was a game-changer. The GT4 was powered by a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six from the 911 Carrera S and was available exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. It quickly became one of Porsche’s most celebrated track-focused cars, with 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of over 180 mph.

In 2016, Porsche introduced the 718 Cayman (982), marking a significant shift to turbocharged four-cylinder engines in place of the naturally aspirated six-cylinder units. While this move sparked debate among enthusiasts, the new engines delivered greater torque and improved efficiency. The 718 Cayman S featured a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine, firmer suspension, wider tyres, and an enhanced exhaust system, making it even sharper and more responsive than its predecessor. The Porsche 718 Cayman S came 2nd Place in Motor Trends’ “Best Driver's Car of 2017” beating the Porsche 911 Turbo S which came 3rd.
